Yale-bound Justin Sears falls in N.J. state finals
Yale-bound forward Justin Sears lost in his high school finale.
Sears, a lanky 6-8 senior from Plainfield, N.J., scored just two points and grabbed only three rebounds as Plainfield dropped a 66-62 decision powerhouse St. Anthony’s at the Izon Center in East Rutherford.
Sears, who is also a solid defender and working on his shooting, averaged 13 points and 12 rebounds for Plainfield which went 30-4 and won Group 3 for the second straight year.
But in the final, he twisted his ankle limiting his playing time and then fouled out. He played just nine minutes.
Sears, who carries a 3.5 GPA, chose Yale over Princeton, Stanford and Boston University.
