#leadingthecharge – New Haven swept the Week 1 Northeast-10 Player of the Week honors. Fellow seniors wide receiver Jason Thompson (104 rec. yds, two TDs) and defensive end Tom Herd (three tackles, two sacks, int., TD) won offensive and defensive player of the week honors, respectively.

The Chargers routed Merrimack College 45-18 last Saturday. Thompson and Herd both had impressive plays. Thompson caught a 54-yard pass that set up a Mike DeCaro touchdown and Herd intercepted a pass at the line of scrimmage and ran it back 27 yard.

UNH makes its longest road trip of the season this week, traveling to North Carolina to face St. Augustine’s University. The Chargers defeated the Falcons last season in New Haven.
