New Haven football ranked 12th in the nation

#leadingthecharge — A 45-18 win over Merrimack College on Saturday allowed New Haven to jump a spot in this week’s American Football Coaches Association top-25 poll.
The Chargers were ranked 13th in the nation in the AFCA preseason poll. New Haven outscored Merrimack 24-6 in the second quarter en route to the victory that moved it up to No. 12 in the poll.
The Chargers face the Falcons of Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh, N.C., on Saturday at 7 p.m.
After defeating Wingate University 28-10 in Week 1, the Falcons received some votes in this week’s poll.
Southern Connecticut State University lost last week to Indiana University (PA) 33-6. The Owls play at Stonehill on Saturday. The win placed Indy into the poll at No. 23.
